Thursday in Jõelähtme, at Estonian Golf & Country Club, the International European Seniors' Championships 2013 started. The first day was favoured for german golfers Hans-Hubert Giesen and Christoph Städler holding the first position with 69 shots. Also Danish Ole Astrup Madsen ended the first day with the same score. From senior ladies the leader is Swiss Guglielmone Mimmi with 71 shots.
Estonian Golf and Country Club has welcomed the continent’s finest senior golfers for the European Golf Association’s International European Seniors' Championships 2013.
Commencing on June 13, 2013, German golfers Hans-Hubert Giesen and Christoph Städler made the strongest start, scoring three-under on the highly acclaimed Sea Course – ranked in Golf World magazine’s Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe.
The pair were only separated from fellow countryman Herbert Plenk, who was fourth on his own overnight on two-under, by Dane Ole Astrup Madsen, who joined the leaders after day one with a 69.
The event is being played concurrently with the International European Senior Ladies’ Championship and Guglielmone Mimmi from Switzerland scored 71 to set the pace in this tournament by one stroke from Swede Iveca Hoff.
Estonian Golf & Country Club, which is part of the European Tour Courses network will see two further days of competition in the tournaments, which conclude on Saturday, June 15.
The International European Seniors Championship is open to European males over-55 years of age, with a handicap of 6.0 or better and females over-50 with a handicap of 9.0 or better.
